Accepting this caution, we cannot deny that these references to the workings of nature are there and that they deserve consideration front the standpoint of the Qur`an as "signs" or evidences of its divine origin. There is also another reason for caution: the tendency to see the Qur'an as anticipating almost every discovery and theory of modern science, such as the splitting of the atolls, Darwinian evolution, the discovery of "black holes," and the uniqueness of fingerprints."
