Abdullah bin al-Mubarak relates: One day, while I was sitting with Imam Malik, an older man came, who was received with extreme respect by the Imam and made to sit beside him. After he had gone, the Imam said to Abdullah: "Do you know who this man was? He was Abu Haneefa of Iraq, who, if he wanted to could prove this pillar to have been made of gold"
