AHMAD VON DENFFER was born in Germany in 1949. He studied Islamic and Social Anthropology at the University of Mainz. He joined The Islamic Foundation as Research Fellow in 1978. He is currently working with the Islamic Centre, Munich, Germany. His other publications include: Der Koran (New translation of the Qur'an in German Language), Literature on Hadith in European Languages: A Biblioography and a German translation of Nawawi's Forty Hadith and Islam for Children.
