Aa'shiq al-Rasul (Meaning 'Lovers of the Prophet' (saw)) were formed in Birmingham, England in the summer of 1998. Classically trained and singing in Arabic, English, Punjabi and Urdu, they perform an impressive repertoire of traditional nasheeds (spiritual uplifting songs). The group, presently consisting of Amran Ellahi, Kamran Ellahi, Tahir Khan, Andy Mason and Sheraz Yaqub came into existence as a result of young people trying to create a multi-cultural experience through music, art and drama. |
