This is an EXCELLENT translation of the qu\'ran and highly recommended for the english speaking individual. I found the likes of Yusuf Ali\'s translation of the Qu\'ran (The most common) to be in a \'ye old english\' style but this particular version really brings it up to date. As we all know the english language has changed over recent years and this translation really goes to show how little a command even we british muslims have of the English language!
From reading the fore-word it states that Yusuf ALi\'s translation was used to take this particular version forward and its great for those looking for comparative religion versions of the Qu\'ran as it covers many of the other religions of the world and explains how they differ - i.e. How it differs from the bible (old and new testaments), the torah and even goes so far as to showing how Islam is not as backward as the West makes it out to be - in fact quite the opposite - The other religions and they\'re beliefs were the ones that were oppressive to the likes of mankind i.e. Women rights (witch hunts etc)
I can not recommend this enough for a british muslim looking to find out the REAL meaning of the Qu\'ran - Remember - Our Rasool (pbuh) stated - A time will come when the Qu\'ran is lip-read - As we tend to do these days - just read it but not know the meaning - This is a great place to start.
I ended up buying 5 copies (or was it four?) can\'t remember as I gave one to each family member (sisters that are married living away etc) and also used this for dawah purposes to give to Christians who were interested in Islam. May Allah (swt) reward Abdul Maajid Daryabadi for his efforts in making this such a clear understanding translation of the Qu\'ran for us that have English as a mother tongue.
